Mrs. Byers – 1st Grade
The 2019 Greek Olympic Games
The Kindergartners, 1st Graders, and 2nd Graders competed in the first SJS Greek Olympics. The Olympic Games consisted of 3 events; A Foot Race, Disc Throw, and Chariot Race. The winners were awarded an Olive Branch Crown to honor the original Greek Olympics and a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Medal to honor the modern day Olympic Games. We had so much fun!
Super Kids: We been learning about how “Y” is a vowel sometimes. We have also been learning how to change the y to an i before we add -er or -est!
Math: We are starting Topic 12 and will be focusing on ordering and comparing numbers.
Humanities: We will be moving onto Greek Philosophers, and finishing up our Frog and Toad books. We love seeing the silliness that Frog and Toad get into.
Science: We have jumped into our Life Science Unit and the 1st graders have had a great time learning about plants and studying our class pet Ocean.
Religion: We have been talking about Lent and learning about Jesus’ journey.
Latin: We are now learning how to count in Latin.
