Mrs. Byers – 1st Grade
The 2019 Greek Olympic Games
The Kindergartners, 1st Graders, and 2nd Graders competed in the first SJS Greek Olympics. The Olympic Games consisted of 3 events; A Foot Race, Disc Throw, and Chariot Race. The winners were awarded an Olive Branch Crown to honor the original Greek Olympics and a Bronze, Silver, or Gold Medal to honor the modern day Olympic Games. We had so much fun!
Super Kids: We haven been working on mastering the “Super E” at the end of long vowel words and will be moving onto two vowels right next to each other. We’ll be using this song to help, “When two vowels go a walking, the first one does the talking!”
Math: We are finishing up our money unit this week, and our next unit will be time!
Humanities: We have been learning about the Greek Olympics and its connections to the modern day Olympics. We may even be planning our own Olympic ceremonies! Stay tuned for pictures! :)
Science: We are learning about the different types of weather.
Religion: We have been talking about creation and Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
Latin: We have learned how to say hello, goodbye, repeat, stand up, sit down, my name is, and what is your name to name a few.
